Windows 10 Starts Slowly

Laptop Takes Forever To Start-up

Windows 10 starts slowly. This is an often-repeated complaint that is caused by many different reasons. Today I am going to focus on one of the most common reasons – the memory. To be precise, the amount of memory installed on the laptop when it was sold to you.

To complicate matters even more, if your laptop was purchased a few years ago, the chances are you qualified for a bonus from Microsoft in the form of a free upgrade to Windows 10. Well, who will not take a free upgrade to Windows 10? Heck, even I will. However, how many of you stopped to first check if your laptop was powerful enough to accommodate Windows 10? Oops, you did not?

One of the key differences between Windows 8 and Windows 10 is the amount of memory required. The difference is not huge, but it is big enough to put a laptop under strain that only has 2 Gig of memory.

Upgrade Your Laptop Memory

Fortunately, it is possible to upgrade the memory in most laptops. I say “most” deliberately because some of the budget laptops are designed in such a way that makes memory upgrades impossible. For the others, it is a simple process of removing the existing memory and replacing it with higher capacity memory of the same make and frequency.

I do not recommend that you try this at home. There are too many things that can go wrong. Rather take your laptop to a trusted technician and get him to do the job for you.
